Is it canonically lawful to decide to go to confession at a different Church? ie you do not want to confess a particular embarrassing sin at your local parish so you drive to another to make a confession?

I almost feel like it is wrong but I was wondering if there was anything the Church has to say about this.

You mean going to confession at another Catholic Church other than your Parish?

Yes that is perfectly fine!

A Catholic (who is able to receive the Sacrament of Confession) - has the right (indeed in Canon Law)- to go to confession to any Catholic Priest who can hear a confession. Even in an Eastern Catholic Church (those Eastern Churches which are part of the Catholic Church).

Canon Law:

Can. 991 Every member of the Christian faithful is free to confess sins to a legitimately approved confessor of his or her choice, even to one of another rite.
