Emad…why do you continue to attack our priesthood?it is only a small fraction of the priests who have caused these problems. You want to bunch the whole lot as one.now it has been shown to you numerous times that Jesus gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins.now if jesus said it,then it was God who commanded it!! it states it clear as day that Jesus gave that authority to them…if you cannot accept that, then it is useless to continue to argue about this point…
I am not attacking your priesthood, I was just citing an example, I certainly don’t believe most priests are evil people, I was just wondering how you say that those exceptional few bad apple priests are representatives of God. I also don’t think that just because I can’t accept something that we can’t discuss it. Nothing wrong with asking about something you don’t understand.

🙂

Emad I have been following this thread for the last few days…it seems all you were trying to do was slander our priests…yes there are some shameful ones, bot MOST are doing the Lords service.Jesus gave the power,it came from God. I apologize if
I offended you,but its hard to watch our priests constantly getting slammed by non-catholics

I was not slamming your priests. Please quote me if I did. I never said all priests, I only listed examples of bad priests. They are out there, they aren’t the majority and I never said that. It was simple examples and I never accused any specific priest(s) of anything.

Emad this thread started out as a question of whether anyone other then God could forgive sins.it was explained from the bible when Jesus gave the authority to the Apostles to forgive or hold bound mens sins.that was explained many times over by several excellant writers.then the thread was changed to what about sinfil priests being worthy to confess our sins to.that was what i was having issue with.

I answered this a few says ago. It isn’t the person of the priest but the office of the priest that is representative of God just as in the Bible we see Jesus telling the people to do as the Pharisies SAY but not as they DO. Jesus recognized the sinfulness of the Pharisies as individuals but acknowledged the office that they held.

Same logic applies to the office of the priesthood.

You are right, it did get a little off topic, but so do so many other threads. It was still related to the topic though, it wasn’t something totally different. 🙂

Yes, but it doesn’t make sense to me for obvious reasons I mentioned before. We are humans and wouldn’t except anyone evil to represent us, why would God when He is has a greater right of being represented by good people.

Hi Emad -

How many people did God chose that were without sin?

God bless you and your family,

I don’t get your question, however as Muslims we believe Prophets aren’t sinners. They make mistakes, but they don’t sin, especially major sins. That is a different subject in itself. So God chose those who had no sins, ie prophets, everyone else is a sinner and can’t fully represent God on earth.

Prophets are equal to God? Prophets are born without the taint of Original Sin like Mary and Jesus. Prophets are pure like Adam and Eve were before the fall? Is this Doctrine that Prophets are sinless, somewhere in your Quran?

I never said they are equal to God, God is perfect Prophets aren’t. God isn’t human, humans are human. It’s a basic Islamic belief that the Prophets don’t commit any major sins, such as adultery, incest, fornication, killing someone unjustly, steal, consume alcohol etc. Read this for further info:

Thank you for the article. It helps me to undestand why it is hard for you to accept that God can still use men who are horrible sinners.

Some Christians say that out of even evil, God will bring all good. I think this is the bottom line for Christians.

So I pray that while I do not think either of us can agree with the others position, I pray we both have moved closer to understanding it.

May God Bless you and protect you,
Maria

How do you reconcile the above with the fact that Mohammed claimed to have been made victorious by terror? Did he not also have sex with a Jewish girl after he had tortured and killed her husband and father?

List your source before we discuss anything, also that is not the topic of this thread. Please stay on topic, if you wish to discuss that, then go to the WhyIslam website ask it there and your question will be answered. There aren’t enough Muslims on this forum and I can’t answer everyones questions/accusations, but I try.

🙂

Allah’s Apostle said:

By the way did you read the link I posted on the subject of confession?

The word in Arabic is Ru’b, it doesn’t mean terror as in physicat terrorism, it is used to mean they fear and are terrified of the Muslims in their hearts. This word is used in the Quran numerous times to refer to the fear in their hearts, never is it used to mean anything physical. Also this is off topic. Let’s stay on topic. If you wish to discuss Islam, I told you where you can find your answers, if you are indeed truly looking for them.
