Can you tell me if you know of any Saints and/or holy people who went to Confession on a daily basis? Thank you
 
Mother Theresa - didn’t even have to think about that one!

John Paul II went at least three times a week, so close.

I do not know If any Saint went to Confession on a daily basis, but I heard San Josemaría Escrivá to tell that it is not necessary to go so often. Although I am not an Opus Dei member I know that they go to Confession weekly.

Also, I have read from a San Josemaria book that he went when he needed. Sometimes, more than once in a week, but also it is very important to us not to be scrupulous.

I, personally, go weekly unless I commit a mortal sin. In that case it is very important to go immediately to the sacrament of penance, and be in Grace with God.

One should go immediatley if they are concious of mortal sin as JEPI said. I would be worried for someone going daily because they might be suffering from Scrupulosity or spiritual gluttony.

Hello, I am here again to say that I have been searching through the internet and I have read that St, Catherine of Sweden (Virgin, c.1330-1381) went daily to Confession for 25 years… But I agree with what Scott said about scrupulosity!

Thank you for your responses. I had made a statement in a group that “some of the Saints went to Confession daily” because I remember reading about some in a book one time - but I couldn’t remember what Saint(s) mentioned. On a personal level, once a week or once a month is good for me - yes, scupulosity needs to be checked. Thanks! Sue
