I couldn’t make it to confession this afternoon (I should have made a better effort, but I didn’t). I’m not going to receive communion at tomorrow’s mass. My question is as follows. My church only has confession on Saturdays; however there is another local church that has confession Monday thru Friday at 7PM. Should I make an effort to go to confession here during the week? Or should I stick with my regular confessor, who is a great priest and gives excellent advice? He knows my the issues I have been having and I find him extremely easy to talk to. Thanks for any advice!

If you have mortal sin on your soul it’s much better to go sooner, even if it’s not to your regular confessor.

After all, if you had a medical emergency you’d go to the nearest hospital and see whoever was on duty there, right?

If you miss confession, you can always ask the Priest to do it after Mass or before. It doesn’t have to be only at the scheduled time.
Sins are very important and do not have to wait until the scheduled time to be confessed, but can be done at the Priests’ earliest convenience. I have asked several times to confess to Priests after Mass and everytime they have obliged.

I would just not make it a habit as Priest have other duties and that is why they schedule confession so that they may do other aspects of their job, such as offer Mass, visit the sick, minister to people and whatever other things people need.
