Sometimes the priest seem very irritated when I ask if he could hear my confession. This is very embarrassing to me.
What should I do? Should I consider this embarrassment part of my penance?:o

I think you should find a priest who doesn’t mind living his vocation.

However, you may wish to consider when you are asking. If he is in the middle of something, or the timing is just bad for him, while I feel strongly that he could handle the intrusion better, you may want to consider when you are asking for his time.

That being said, it would be lovely if a priest could understand that an opportunity to administer a sacrament can’t be any less important than any other appointment he might have on his calendar.

I guess you might as well.

Thanks be to God that the majority of our priests are happy to hear our Confessions, no matter what. Let us pray for those who consider such things to be an imposition on their time.

recently I’ve seen a dramatic upswing in the number of confessions available and also the number of people going. Not coincidental I think.

Here in San Diego we are truly blessed. At St Josephs Cathedral they have confessions prior to every Mass three on weekdays and I think five on Sundays. Often it is Auxilaiary Bishop Chavez hearing the confessions. To me that is a truly unique experience having the Bishop hear my confession:thumbsup: 👍

Amazing absolutely amazing.

Last Tuesday night we had 11 priests in our parish hearing confession for 2+ hours and none of them seemed “irritated” before or afterwards.

Have you tried going to confessions at the regular scheduled time?
