I have discuss it with some the few catholic mothers of the surrounding parishes of the extend area (to the last informal meeting, we were almost all here, so 6 families for 4 differents parishes). It appears that everyone complain about the mass and liturgy and no one found the mass in their parish interesting. They go because of tradition, because of faith; and “because we had been raised to support the parishes”.
Me, I don’t follow the text or homily (It is because it is how I am, unable to focus on something), I go there because I believe, and want my family get used to the mass who is a mandate, and structure of the week.
It is really a problem, because most of the families that constitute the bastion of the center of the city parishes are unhappy. One is about to leave. The mother (the one who homeschool) said she don’t miss the mass during the confinement. So she tries somewehere else, with a more traditional mass and priest (not a TLM mass, but a mass almost in latin, with no lay people who distribute the communion, only communion on the tongue, and vibrand homily).
I didn’t return to this parish since the deconfinement. Not being able to have mass, maybe make me less likely to make my mass “shopping” and enjoying having a mass next to my door.
I used to go to the center because there is children, and our parish don’t have them. But the attitude of the priest, who has no complex of excluding me and a baby from a group in shameful conditions- I wait maybe a mail of excuses, but nothing came- don’t help. They don’t want babies and mothers around? Well, so…
There is also a scout group this priest is the chaplain, don’t don’t come often to say mass. So the scouts don’t have mass the sunday. I know it is difficult, because of a lack of priests.
There is some frustrating things, sorry to vent with critics of my local churches.
Make me think that we have forget to contribute financially for the church. Very bad thing. I should catch up that…
