Confirmation as an Adult

I am an adult, and I am going to do my confirmation, finally. I was not able to do so when I was younger (the time when it’s usually done) as my family moved away to a place where there was no Catholic school. Then, as is wont to happen, I never got around to it until I really started thinking that I should (I’m now 28).
I don’t have any questions per se; however, I’m just wondering what others have to say about this?
Obviously I believe in Jesus, and also want to remain a Catholic.
 
It will be good for you to complete your sacraments of initiation. I hope you find many graces in preparing for and then receiving the sacrament.

Does your parish offer a separate adult confirmation class or will you be joining with those in RCIA to prepare?
 
It’s great, good for you.

I was baptised, confirmed, and recieved first communion at the age of 23. It’s not the “usual” time for it to happen, but it’s kind of nice being older and being able to fully appreciate what is happening. It’s never too late to recieve Gods sacraments!

It’ll be done separately.
 
we have 24 adults (over 18) preparing for Confirmation in 3 separate classes, plus 6 RCIA candidates, one for full communion and 5 for full initiation at Easter. you are not alone by any means. There are also at least 12 couples who have completed confirmation classes and will be ready for the sacrament when marriage or other issues have been resolved satisfactorily. When we go to the diocesan celebration on Pentecost Sunday there will be over 600 candidates. Our new bishop Flores will be confirming this class, how exciting. We still have 75 teens for confirmation as well in this year’s class, but another class of 8-10 seniors who are on an accelerated program so they can also be ready this year before they graduate. The local college campus also has a confirmation class at the Catholic student center of about 30 candidates.

You are in good company, and it makes great sense because the sooner you ask the Holy Spirit to activate his gifts in your life the better.
