What arguments can be made for or against confirmation *before *first communion?
Some that occur to me:
Some that occur to me:
*]We typically have first communion at 7 and confirm at 14. Change is bad, therefore we should keep it that way
*]Delaying confirmation to 14 brings kids back to the Church at the age they would otherwise begin to drift away.
*]Easterners confirm at the same time as baptism. Uniformity is good, therefore we should confirm at baptism.
*]Confirmation goes hand-in-hand with spiritual maturity; therefore it should be delayed.
*]Confirmation is a sacrament of strengthening; therefore it should be administered as early as possible, before age 7
*]Confirmation is a sacrament of strengthening; therefore it should be administered when spiritual attacks are strongest, around age 14.
Any others?
