This may seem odd, but I often ask my fellow Catholics what name they chose for confirmation and why.( I hope I am posting in the correct forum, and that this is not duplicate of another thread.)
I chose St. Therese (The Little Flower)-I was inspired by her sweetness and simplicity.

St. Sebastian… I was reading through the stories of different saints, and Sebastian really stood out to me. 👍

Vincent

Technically, it was in honor of my godfather, my Uncle Vincent.

But as an actual Patron, it was St. Vincent Pallotti, as my family was been involved with the Irish Pallotine Religious Order.

Catherine…because of the spirituality and strength of Catherine of Siena.

Agnes…by the request of Our Lord. (I told Him He was in charge of my Confirmation name. I saw an image of St. Agnes in a dream one night and chose her name.)

I chose Andrew for my name after St. Andrew the Apostle because he is the patron of fishermen and I love to fish.

St. George - he stood strong in the face of persecution, even unto death, to defend the truth. He was a soldier, but resigned his commission. He put down his sword. His story isn’t the longest, but it resonates with me.

Mary, my Mother had a beautiful devotion to Our Lady and I learned it from her. I am 77 years old and I still love Her dearly. She has helped me thru many trials. She is holding 2 of my babies in her arms till I can be there with them. She goes with me every morning when I walk up to receive Her SON. God Bless. Memaw

John.

At the request of my mother, who wanted to name me John but I already had a cousin John and Mom didn’t want two with the same name in the family.

After St. Rita of Casia, as requested by my father who grew up opposite a church who had a shrine in her honour!

Veronica…because of what she did for Jesus

I went on to name a daughter Veronica as well.

St. Mark, after the evangelist, and also for a childhood friend with the same name. It was his mom who recommended that my mom pray to St. Gerard during her difficult pregnancy (with me!). So she gave me St. Gerard for my middle name, and I chose St. Mark for my confirmation name.

St. Blaise, patron of diseases of the throat, because I got a lot of throat illnesses growing up.

San Juan de la Cruz (St. John of the Cross)

My grandmother was a lay Descalced Carmelite. She lived that way throught her life when her husband died. I didn’t know her very well personally, but I knew her through the work she did in raising my mom. This led me to look into the Carmelites for a Patron Saint. I saw San Juan de la Cruz and read up on him. He was imprisoned by his own Order, feared and resented for the attempts at reordering the Order. Eventually he and Santa Teresa de Avila founded the Descalced Carmelites.

I love his poetry, it really put the gospels into a more easily understood presentation; for me at least.

St Michael the Archangel, chose him after a dream where he come and spoke to me in the church i was confirmed in at Easter Vigil.

I chose Madeline; in honor of St. Mary Magdaline; who stayed by Jesus at the foot of the Cross.

Therese, after the Little Flower and my grandmother, who shared her devotion to her name saint with me.

Because of her saintliness while still a child, she was someone with whom I could relate.

My confirmation name is John. After John XXIII who was Pope at that time. It was also my father’s confirmation name.

Originally I was going to choose Richard, the name of Richard Cushing, Archbishop of Boston. But my mother made me change it because it was the same first name as Richard Nixon. And anything associated with Republicans was a mortal sin.
