How would we go about choosing or, or even deciding on a confirmation name?

I think I choose Mary.

Is it alright for a male to choose Mary as a confirmation name?

I’m sure that it is. I have Stephen Gemma as my name. 🙂 A lot of religious have Mary in there name.

I’m still deciding over Mary, Matthew, and Ignatius Loyola. My friend says Ignatius, but I am not sure.

You might want to recommit yourself to your Baptismal name since it expresses the relationship that exists between these two sacraments. Or,You might want to choose the name of a saint who represents the type of Christian you wish to be. It is important to learn as much as you can about your patron saint.

We tell the high school kids to choose a saint whose life and spirituality you most want to emmulate. These three are very different in that regard. Are you drawn more to humble service, evangelization or to missionary zeal? 🙂

Evangelization.

St. Dominic. 🙂
Could my confirmation name be the last name of a Saint?
Lets say for instance my name is: Andrew Jack McDonald.
And my Saint is John Vianney.
Could it be Andrew Vianney Jack McDonald, or does it have to be Andrew John Jack McDonald?

Can you modify a Saint’s name as your confirmation name? For example “Francisca”?

What if you only take the last name of a Saint? Is that permissible?

Since the taking of a confirmation name isn’t really an official practice of the Church, I’m not sure one can say there are hard-and-fast regulations, but that’s not customary, no.

Yes, that’s very common.
