Increasingly, I’ve been feeling as if I should take St. Lucia (or St. Lucy) or Syracuse as my confirmation name!

How weird it would be for a man to take a woman’s name for a confirmation name. :o

Someone here said to take the confirmation name of someone who you think would pray for you, and I definitely feel like St. Lucia or St. Jerome might be in the final two.
It isn’t at all. Mary (or Marie or Maria) was and is still a common baptism, confirmation or religious name for many men. Including Saint John Marie Vianney and St Jose Maria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei - not to mention EWTN having Fr Francis Mary, Fr Dominic Mary and Fr Mark Mary (Mary isn’t the surname, I checked).

Goes the other way too, in my school we had a Sister Bernardine (after the male St Bernardine of Siena) and a Sister Maureen Joseph (rest her soul).

If you feel a strong connection with St Lucy then go for it!
