I’ve been thinking about what saints name to take when I am confirmed next year.

I’ve been thinking about St Athanasius, as I am a postgraduate student doing research in sociology, and standing up for any kind of objective truth in the climate of postmodern social sciences brings to mind the epithet “Athanasius contra mundum” which this saint earned for his defence of sound doctrine on the Trinity.

I thought it might be interesting to know what other people on here, especially those who converted as adults, chose as confirmation names, and the reasons why.

I chose St. Pascal Baylon, because of his love for the Eucharist and his being the patron of cooks (I’m a culinary student).
“Athanasius contra mundum”
I’ve heard this was once a phrase in Catholic circles that sort of meant, “You know what’s true and what the right action is, so even if it’s going to make you really unpopular you have to follow through with it”. I don’t suppose you know if that’s true?

I took St. Joseph for my confirmation name.
*Joseph had an extreeemly important job and I’m sure He tok that job very seriously; but He was very humble and loving. 👍 *
