Confirmation Names (again)

If you “have” to choose a confirmation name (you don’t, but some bureaucrat may push and if you don’t want to get involved in the discussion), simply choose the name you already have. Then it is a moot point. If your name is, say, Lawrence Joseph, choose Lawrence or Joseph.

I second the recommendation to choose the name you feel is yours, and that you want to bear, as your Confirmation name. That might be very healing to you.

If your name is a “special case,” or if you don’t know whether any saints have that name, post about it here. I have an interest in names and in saints, and I’ve found out that a lot of trendy or unusual names really are Christian names with a long history, or are the names of martyrs, even though people don’t think of them that way.
