Confirmation present ideas?

Hi,

Does anyone have suggestions on confirmation presents for a 12 year old boy? I am his sponsor. One parent is non catholic and the other is a very secular catholic. I was thinking about the CCC, but I expect that might cause problems with the parents.

I would opt for the YouCat over the CCC. If you are his sponsor for him receiving a religious sacrament, they cannot be that surprised that you give him a gift that is religious in nature.

One would hope, anyway. He friend has always said he does not want to shove religion down his son’s throat. But he did put him into a Catholic school afterall, and he is getting some formation there in preparation for his confirmation…

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. The CCC is very dense, so that is probably a better choice.

I gave each of my nephews a nice St. Joseph edition Catholic Bible with their name imprinted on the front.

My sponsor gave me a nice rosary, and I still have it.

I agree with this. It’s a keepsake, and useful as well.
I did this for the girl I sponsored last year. Our Lady of Sorrows. You can get fine quality medals on ebay for very reasonable prices if you look in advance of the Confirmation.

As a DRE, I make sure each Confirmand has a copy of the Catechism before they even being classes. He may already have one. It’s a reference book for their studies about the faith. Every Catholic household should have one, especially when families are unclear about what the Church REALLY says about various topics.

I got him the Youcat book and prayer book and a rosary with instruction booklet. The store I went to did not have many medals, so hopefully this will be OK. The rosary is from the holy land with water from the Jordan.

I had a lady on Twitter known as Rosary Doctor make my son a red rosary with his saint as the middle metal of the set. It was breath-taking. Archbishop Chaput did the ceremony, and it was wonderful!
