Hello, I am unable to locate my confirmation records. I contacted the church where I thought it was done and they said they can’t find it. No one remembers the ceremony to provide a testimony. I vaguely remember it. The name I picked was Elizabeth. I would like to join a religious order but they require this record

It should have been noted on your baptism record. Have you checked it?

I’ve heard of a conditional baptism. Is there such a thing as a conditional confirmation?

When you say you have your record, how did you obtain it? Also it would not be on the record itself it would be noted in the office. Check with the place you were baptized to see if they do have a record.

How about the Chancery for the Diocese?

conditional confirmation
No, I did not say with notations. So I will be calling the church Monday to see if they have the notations. By the way, my confirmation would have been done at a different church than my baptism.

Precisely…the church where the Confirmation was done would have required a baptismal certificate from the church of baptism was done and then should have sent notification to that church after the Confirmation for the baptismal record to be notated.

Is there anything on the back of the baptismal certificate at all?

Either way, your record at the church you were baptized at would be updated with your confirmation. It’s called you church of record, and keeps track of all your Sacraments, no matter where they are.

@Don_Ruggero beat me! The priests on this forum all type so fast! 🤣

I do not see “Chancery” on the page for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Americans today tend to use other terminology, such as “pastoral center” or, in the case of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, “Archdiocesan Catholic Center.”

It not infrequently happens that parishes will group young people for Confirmations for the convenience of the Bishop administering the sacrament. It is possible that the Confirmation took place at a venue other than the one you are remembering.

I would recommend consulting your parish of baptism to ask, in addition to any notations they have in the record, if they have suggestions as to where the Confirmation might have taken place – assuming you were still living in the parish of your baptism at the time you were confirmed. There would likely be a whole class of confirmandi in your same situation and the mystery may have been resolved for someone else already.

Beyond that, you can seek help from the archdiocese’s archival center in tracking down the record.

It should be the main (first) number here: https://www.la-archdiocese.org/Pages/Help/Contact.aspx

I too have no record of my confirmation. When I got married they looked for one. I was confirmed outside of the normal rcia process in college. I’m interested in the answer here.
