Has anyone heard of writing a letter to you parish priest to be confirmed, explaining why you want to be confirmed and your commitment to the church?

I would think that they’re going to want you to go through RCIA whether you write a letter or just stop by the office and fill out the paperwork.
 
I believe I read this here on CA. It pertains not to adults but to teens preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

I think it’s a nice exercise for the kids, to actually have to think about Confirmation…what it is, and what it means to their lives, and to actually have to articulate that in their own words to the priest. I think that is quite appropriate.
