Confirmation Saint(s)

Ok, I’m still a new Catholic and my parents are going to get confirmed, I have several questions about their confirmation saints.

My mom has a deep connection with the Divine Mercy Chaplet, I’ve heard that you can make it your saint, but what is the exact name of it? Anyone have this as your saint? Can she have other ones as her saint, like the Infant of Prague, Our Lady of Guadalupe, etc. Are these apparitions?

Any info would be highly appreciated.

St. Faustina would be an appropriate saint, as she is the one responsible for spreading the message of Divine Mercy throughout the world. St. Mary, after the Blessed Mother, would also be an excellent choice.

The point of taking on a new name at Confirmation is to signify the change in status of your relationship with God.

It is customary that the new name be the name of a recognized Saint, but in reality, you can take any name you want, as long as it doesn’t have any pagan or anti-Catholic connotations. One of my god-sons named himself after a great uncle that he admired, and another young man I know took the name “Emmanuel,” after one of the titles of Christ.

Lots of people have named themselves Guadalupe, Fatima, or Lourdes (and of course Juan Diego, Lucia, Francisco, Jacinta, and Bernadette), after the various approved apparitions of Mary. The Saint of the Divine Mercy Chaplet is St. Faustina, but I don’t know if that’s what you were looking for. I don’t think the Chaplet itself has any particular name that would sound like a person’s name.

I guess the test would be to yell it out the window as if calling to a child - would you feel comfortable being called by that name, if someone were to choose to call you by it?
