Confirmation saints specifics

I have been trying to find my confirmation saint. I want a really cool saint but I also want one that means something to me. I have found 3 that really call to me.

St Vladimir of Kiev’s
St Moses the Black
And, St Olaf.

They were all pretty amazing saints (mainly in there conversion stories and how they turned there lives around.) and they did some pretty incredible things. I have a couple questions though.

Does the saints patronage have to relate to you? These 3 guys all have at least one patronage that somewhat relates to me but some of them are a really loose fit. Is this a problem? Or should there inspiration on me be enough?

Do I have to take there most used name? For example: St Olaf has a ton of different names and some of them speak more to me than others. Does this matter?

Just some questions that have been rolling round in my head. I really want to make the right choice here.
 
no, and no. Pick what stands out to you the most after having prayerfully discerned it.
 
It’s purely your choice for your own reasons.
Our Archbishop often asks candidates why they chose a particular saint.
So know your history well.
Having said all that, there are times in the history of our faith where name changes signified great conversion fo heart. Abram/Abraham & Saul/Paul come to mind. This is why we choose a name. Becuase now is the time when you begin to mature in your faith. Where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. This is an exciting time. Chose whomever you wish, and indeed, you can have a devotion to all three in your life. God bless you! U chose Veronica when I was young. I loved that she consoled Jesus on Calvary.
 
I see. That all makes sense.
I’ll have to think about it some more though. But I’ll probably choose based of off a combination of how holy they were and how big of a bad*** they had been. And then I have to write an essay about them. Any tips on that? Not to be a bother of course.
 
Just don’t cut and paste. Can you do a powerpoint, or write a play instead? or does it have to be a paper? Give the basic facts of this person’s life, but focus on the ministry and what propelled him to sainthood. BE sure to mention (with passion) what about the person inspires you. That’s what they want to know. Also, include how you found out about this person. Were you googling? Read a story? Magazine article? Homily mention?

Find good sources on them- not just the trite, “little lives of the saints” books, but try to find a good, older biography on them- maybe even read some of their writings if you are able.
 
I will definitely do so. These guys are pretty interesting so I might actually enjoy this research. Hopefully one of them sticks out well!

Now I see why Saint Olaf is underrated, Lutheranism, are you interested in choosing him because his situation is difficult?
 
@CharlesFulkerson Hi your name too,can be your patron St Charles Borromeo, see which Saint has that name ,patron saint are usually chosen by the names,a person is Baptized, if a person is named by Anthony then his patron can be St Anthony of Padua or S Anthony of Egypt, but not a must per say ,you can choose at the time of confirmation any other saint whom you like or feel will related to your work, or, saint of the Day you where baptized.Your can pray to many favorites saints the list is endless,God Bless
 
Choosing you saint name is a very personal experience. There is no wrong answer. In writing your essay be creative in using your own words, do careful research, and be sincere in what you write. Some points you’ll want to consider, who was this person? i.e. name, where & when he was born, what his family life was like, what did he do to become a saint. Another point is how is this saint speaking to you now, what is drawing you to him. Then think about how this saint will help you 5 years from now, 10 years, 20 years. That part is not required but I like to see kids thinking about it.
