Who did you choose as your confirmation saint and why? Is it because of their patronage? Their story? Did you just choose it because you liked the name?

I chose the name Moses after saint Moses the black, also known as Moses the Ethiopian. I chose this name because of the saints life and story. It goes to show how no matter how we were in our past, we can still always turn ourselves around and change for the better.

Joseph, because St. Joseph is a role model for husbands, fathers and workers. And his name was popular as a Catholic name where I grew up.

Peter, for my grandfather, at my mother’s suggestion, and for Saint Peter the first pope. Unfortunately, at sixteen I didn’t appreciate the process enough to really make the choice my own, but Peter is a fine saint by me even so.

None. When I was confirmed I was encouraged to use my baptismal name to maintain the linkage between the double sacrament of confirmation and baptism.

As for a patron saint I feel close to Sts Paul and Stephen. St Paul because I had a rapid conversion after many years of disdain for Christians (very much a road to Damascus type thing). St Stephen because I was born on the feast of St Stephen and because I’ve felt called to the diaconate ever since I converted; just seemed natural under the circumstances.

I was inspired by St. Catherine during RCIA. Now, I find myself drawn closely to Mother Mary (and Mary is also my middle name). When it came down to it, I used my own name when I was being confirmed…working out perfectly 😉

Madeline for St. Mary Magdalene; because she stood by Jesus with Mary & John at the foot of the Cross.

Mine is Saint Sebastian.

In reading over Saint’s names for Confirmation, I came across his story, and after reading it, I had an inner-realization that I would have done the exact same thing as him. He’s the only Saint to be martyred twice 😉

None, I’d never even heard of the practice until I moved to this parish years ago. They didn’t do that back where I’m from, or in any of the parishes where my kids were confirmed.

I chose St. Margaret, Queen of Scotland. She is a 26th-28th great grandmother of mine.

Vincent, after St. Vincent Pallotti.

When I was growing up, there was a chapter house of the Pallotine Fathers, Irish Province nearby.

Since my parents were from Ireland, they were over for dinner a lot, and were all good family friends.

Saint John Paul II, who I have always believed represents everything good about the Catholic Church in recent years.

St. Elizabeth of the Trinity.

I found her “by accident” in my RCIA book and knew she was the one. The more research I did on her, the more sure I was.

Also her memorial is very close to my birthday.

I chose St. Robert Bellarmine, a Cardinal, Doctor of the Church and a member of the Roman Inquisition. In the 1962 Calendar his feast day falls on my birthday, which 13th May (Also Our Lady of Fatima). I think I chose him because of his fidelity to the Church.

I got Confirmed this past April (RCIA).

My Confirmation saint was/is Saint Anthony of Egypt.

My middle name is Anthony, where I lived at that time was a desert(Antelope Valley). After reading about him, I was intrigued by him.
