Today was the first time that the ones that were confirmed were allowed to take Communion. In the ELCA, my children were allowed to take early Communion without being confirmed. I read an article that the Episcopal Church is thinking about allowing the unbaptized to take Communion.This will be the first time for me as well. I was raised LCA, also, and it was my dad who conducted Catechetical Class!!! Talk about pressure.

I thought they had decided not to do that? From what I understand they are actually quite different from the Episcopalians - they arenāt liberal, they are very, very Low.
Your experiences are the same as mine. Iām sure you, like me, received 1st Holy Communion on the day of your confirmation - I was 15 years old. Just to note the reason this is being considered appears to be a welcoming gesture and a way to bring people to Christ.
A parishoner in the story linked above is quoted as saying at his first visit to a congregation he received Holy Communion, and was led to join the church.
An Episcopalian clergyman is quoted as saying his parish "welcomes everybody, Orthodox believer or skeptic, gay or straight, black or white, rich or poor, everybody is invited to eat at Godās tableā.
I wouldnāt be as troubled by this as some I know are here. As it does seem to me to be very much in line with the words of Jesus in Jn 6:37 where Jesus says, āI will not reject anyone who comes to me.ā
And yes before any one says so, I am aware the Catholic Church does not believe believers are receiving Him in such a Communion.

Donāt forget the Keizer Volcanoes who also feed up to the Giantsā¦Glad to know Iām predictible! There are two areas Iām consistent: Giants baseball and morality LOL!!
I will have to continue to educate my good buddy CMatt in taking the World Champion Giants who are first place in the NL West seriously! Won 5 in a row, swept the Dodgers then swept Oaklandā¦Bumgarner, Cain, Lincecum, Sanchez, Wilson, Affeldt, Cody Ross, Buster Posey, the Panda, and hopefully in a few months weāll get our boy out of triple A Fresno (an hour away from here incidentally) Brandon Belt to come up to the Giants.
The key is watching AFTER the all-star break. If the Tribe looks this good after the all-star break and theyāre able to dominate the playoffs, then weāll all kneel in awe. At this point, being a good regular season team is something the Dodgers and Padres have done for years nowā¦and look where they ended up! Same with the Angels!

But of course one does not know what will happen this week, let alone know with 100% absolute certainty what the truth shall be after the all-star break. Do Lutherans and Episcopalians take Confirmation names? Mine for instance was David. At the time because a 10 yr old liked the story of David slaying Goliath. What can I say.

Ace pitcher Tim Lincecum (a Volcano in 2006)ā¦BTWā¦the World Series trophy makes a stop here in July. Volcano stadium is only about a 5 minute drive from my houseā¦CMATT is jealousā¦Iām not a Bonds fan though Iām not a hater or freak about him either. Iāve stood ten feet from him. Iām more of a Will Clark, Marichal, McCovey, JT Snowe kinda guy. But with our current team I adore Cody Ross, Matt Cain, Lincecum (dooby roller), and of course my boy Brian Wilson! Iām a believer in the Buster, too!
Hi Jon, well Iām not even certain itās done or encouraged as much anymore. Or if it was a requirement. But back in my younger days everyone I knew chose one. For instance often it seemed someone might have chosen a saintās name who they especially admired. Perhaps it also represented a renewed commitment to God. Or taken from cases such as Abram becoming Abraham and Sarai becoming Sarah. Has been many a year since I was confirmed. And I might well be incorrect. So I welcome someone to explain it better if so. God bless!

but well I do have a pic of myself with a WS trophy the righteous just missed having in their grasps 14 yrs ago. And taking that picture with the enemy was quite a work of mercy!
