Can you tell me what my responsibilities are as a sponsor after the confirmation takes place?

I have been a Confirmation Sponsor and I am going to one again this May.
All you need to do after the Confirmation takes place is to set a good
example for them to see. As I see it being chosen to be a sponsor is
already telling you that you are a good example and that they see
the Light of Christ in you!

You should pray for them by name every day. They should always have a means of reaching you. If you see them taking the wrong path, you let them know and do your best to lead them back. If possible, meet with them from time to time.

Sponsors serve a different purpose than godparents. Godparents are to assist the parents in raising a Catholic child. At Confirmation the sponsor brings the child forward to become an ‘adult’ in the Church. Here is an article americancatholic.org/Newsletters/CU/ac0497.asp

Not so much ‘raised’ because they are supposed to be ‘raised’ already. Helping them on their journey may be a better description.
