Hello
Last year I became a sponsor and Godfather to a beautiful 17 year old girl cousin of mine.
I took it very seriously as my confirmation was a big turning point for me,as well as my love for this girl and my love and faith in Christ.
However ,
as time has gone on,it’s becoming apparent that my Goddaughter didn’t take her confirmation as seriously as I would have hoped.
She doesn’t recognize the Sacrament in her daily life and I fear, only saw the day as an excuse to dress up and take pictures with her friends.
I know God’s free will dictates that people must choose Him and can only do it freely and by their own choice and intensity.
It looks like all I can do is pray and know that teens can change.
Am I off?
Thanks in advance for the replies
🙂

You can encourage her to see making her faith a priority as a real positive, with the ideal that experience will teach her to see it as the priority. As long as you encourage instead of shaming or arguing, you can put this into your conversations.

I remember a godchild of mine, who has left the Church and in spite of a 12 years of Catholic education thinks that the Mass is just a wooden ritual, invited me to join a worldwide meditation called “Fire the Grid” on July 17, 2007 at 11:11 GMT…“to bring our human energy of love to the planet for the healing of our world.” The woman who was organizing it had some sort of vision with Beings of Light and who knows what after she and her son had been rescued from a terrible car accident. (Her son’s rescue and recovery are truly remarkable, and I have no reason to believe she’s lying about it.)

I decided that if several million people were planning on blindly throwing their souls up in the air at who-know-what this “Grid” was, but with the best of intentions, then it would be a good time to pray, yes! So I prayed the prayers for a Novena to the Holy Spirit, to guard them all from the influence of any harmful spirits who might take advantage of their vulnerable state. I guess I figure that your prayers have to go where they go, and not where you wish they were. 🤷
