Hi, my name is Yvette. I started going to RCIA classes in February until June (when we had summer break). I found the classes to be very boring and I did not learn a lot. Last month my husband and I had our marriage blessed by the Church and I was able to receive my First Holy Communion (I was baptized as a baby). My question to you is, am I obligated to go to the RCIA classes since I receive my First Holy Communion? I’d like to find an alternative, or maybe a different RCIA group…

in the latin rite, before the novus order (new order) the next series of catechesis would be your preparation for the sacrament of confirmation. the only suggestion i feel qualified to give is that you converse with either your parish priest and/or a representative of your diocese concerning your training. have a good year. (alih)👍

I was baptized as an infant in the Church then at age four my parents divorced and I was no longer in church at age 12 I went back to the Church and received private instruction from the parish priest for my first communion the Nun then said that was not good enough and I had to go through some ccd classes the priest conceded to here. So I would say that there is no cut and dry answer you need to talk to your priest.

I assume that you are a baptized Catholic, who now thankfully has received first communion. No, you should not be in an RCIA class, but do look for a good adult catechism class which will prepare you fo rconfirmation, so you can complete your Christian initiation. You need the gifts of the Holy Spirit to meet the demands of Christian life especially of marriage and family.
