Hi …

hello all,

i want to know regarding Confirmation if it is okay for a brother or sister to be the Sponser or (God parent?) to the one being Confirmed…

I fear that a normal brother to brother relationship may change or become different if say a younger brother has to look upon an older brother as some kind of Spiritual Authority over him…

I say to you that i am one of these younger brothers that is in this position…i dont know if this is any cause of my difficulties, but my older brother can be demanding and it used to bother me that much in my teenage years i had so much ill feelings toward him that i wont even speak aloud of…as i said i feel that i should be equal with my brother but instead he would feel that he is the hand of God over my life…if this is wrong then may the Roman Priests deliver me from this or something…please no crude answers or else i will staight away ask to be delivered out of the forum…

thank you

Paul.

yes there is no canon law reason why not
if the person is not suitable for other reasons, and would not be a good Catholic role model and mentor, then no, he should not be asked.
the Confirmation has NO “spiritual authority” over the candidate

why is the question in the wrong forum? try liturgy and sacraments to find more about the role of confirmation sponsor
