Sorry everyone, I just discovered this site and am probably going to be asking a lot of questions haha! I have always been wondering about this one. I am a naturalized US citizen, but I was not born in this country. My family and I came when I was 7. Back in my country of birth the population is mostly Catholic, but the towns are rather small and far apart. Either way, everyone back in my country got confirmed as babies until maybe about three years ago when this practice was ended. I asked my sister about this once, and she said “ The Bishop could only visit each town once a year. Maybe they were afraid babies would die before being confirmed). I guess my question is, were we all validly confirmed? I’m talking entire towns.

In the Eastern Catholic Churches, it is common to receive Baptism, Confirmation/Chrismation, and first Communion in infancy.

Yeah, I actually just read that on a post on here and that is why I remembered. The only problem I have with that is that I’m talking Latin America.

In the Eastern Catholic Churches it is normal. In the Latin Church it is not allowed, though if a bishop (it would be more complicated if done by an individual priest) did it anyway, whether or not he had special permission, it would be valid.

Yes! It was done by more than one Bishop! We have certificates signed by them and everything. This gives me peace though. For a few seconds there I thought I wasn’t confirmed!

Of course it is allowed, even if it is not the typical practice.

Thank you Titivillus! I can assume that my sacraments are in order then, correct?
