CONFITEOR Deo omnipotenti, beatae Mariae semper Virgini, beato Michaeli Archangelo, beato Ioanni Baptistae, sanctis Apostolis Petro et Paulo, et omnibus Sanctis, quia peccavi nimis cogitatione, verbo et opere: mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Ideo precor beatam Mariam semper Virginem, beatum Michaelem Archangelum, beatum Ioannem Baptistam, sanctos Apostolos Petrum et Paulum, et omnes Sanctos, orare pro me ad Dominum Deum nostrum. Amen. (Latin)

(English):
I CONFESS to almighty God, to blessed Mary ever Virgin, to blessed Michael the Archangel, to blessed John the Baptist, to the holy apostles Peter and Paul, and to all the saints that I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word, and deed, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore, I beseech blessed Mary ever Virgin, blessed Michael the Archangel, blessed John the Baptist, the holy apostles Peter and Paul, and all the saints, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Amen.

A beautiful prayer I thought I should share with everyone considering Ash Wednesday is tomorrow 🙂

Let us pray…

And the current Liturgical version of this is already in the Ordinary Form English translation of the Mass.

This will sound dumb, but when during the Mass do we say it? I went this past Sunday but I don’t recall it. Maybe the words are different and that’s throwing me off. But when is it said?

It is sometimes in place of the Kyrie (“Lord have mercy . . . Christ have mercy. . . Lord have mercy”) - which comes after the Greeting of the Congregation (Priest “The grace and peace of our Lord . . .”) and before the Gloria.

The new translation is:
I confess to almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault [James 5:16] in my thoughts and in my words [James 3:6], in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do [James 4:17]; and I ask Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God [1 Thessalonians 5:25; 1 Timothy 2:1].

(Obviously we don’t say the parts in the ]).

It is a wonderful prayer to be reminded of on Ash Wednesday 👍.

The version posted by the OP is used during the prayers at the foot of the altar in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. It is the version I use during my night prayers. When recited by the server at Mass, after to all the saints is added and to thee Father (et tibi Pater). Later when he asks for prayers he says, et te Pater (and thee Father) “to pray to the Lord our God for me”.
