The Confraternity New Testament, was basically the Challoner revision of the DR but updated still further for 20th century America. The editions from 1950 through 1953 are very good translations. The entries after 1953 were the first foreshadowing of the NAB. The Old Testament books called “the Confraternity Edition” being Genesis through Ruth are then translated from other received texts, and not the Vulgate. This was begun after 1943, when P.P.XII issued

This copy belonged to my mother.
I don’t like the NAB so I am sorry to hear that this version is a forerunner to the NAB.

I suppose both would be good for reference especially if you prefer the Douay Rheims and are not particular to the modern literary influences of Vatican II.just found two one frond 1915 and the other from 1950 which one would be better?
