Confused about forgotten sins in confession

I’ve searched this forum and got conflicting answers to my question . I went to confession yesterday and although I had done a pretty thorough examination of conscience, I forgot a mortal sin during my confession to the priest. I went on to receive communion at the mass right after confession and didn’t realize until later what I had forgotten. So a couple of questions… 1. Do I need to confess that forgotten sin, or was I absolved because I made an honest attempt at confession? 2. Was it a sin to receive communion when I thought I was absolved of everything?
Thank you!

You should confess it next time you go to confession. If it was a friend whom you had forgotten to apologize to for some issue, you would surely do that next time you saw her. Jesus deserves the same courtesy. But it was forgiven when you were absolved, so there is no need to run to confession tomorrow.

Receiving communion when you had forgotten to mention something was not a sin. If you had deliberately not mentioned something, that would be another story.
