I know this has come up in discussions before, but I just joined today. I did an Internet search on the link between Susan G Komen and Planned Parenthood and it lead me to this website. I have a good friend participating in the 3 Day walk. I did it two years ago. I was informed a few months ago that the foundation contributes to Planned Parenthood (a great deal of money). I am disapointed since I know first-hand how much time, money and emotion goes into participating in this walk. I know that there is the argument that they donate this money for mammograms, my question is, do many Planned Parenthood Clinics carry and operate mammogram equipment? The ones in my area do not.

If you search on the Planned Parenthood site to “Find a Health Center” you can see a listing of clinics per state and many of them offer “Women’s Health Services,” which I would assume includes mammography.

Some local affiliates will deny sending money to planned deathhood, but all of them send money to the Komen Foundation which distributes money to planned deathhood.

There are other walks. Stay away from this one and tell them why.

There are many locations where Planned Parenthood is the only resource for womens’ health care for the underserved. Those are the only places Komen makes donations to Planned Parenthood. Without Planned Parenthood, women in those areas would not have access to screening mammograms (and other womens’ health care). I in no way advocate Planned Parenthood’s main objective, but in this instance I think it is better than having women die from breast cancer because they can’t afford a mammogram or treatment.

I totally agree that it would not be better for women to die of cancer. I also see that "women’s health services’ are listed as a service. I would just be interested in finding out how many PP clinics actually carry mammogram machines. Why not offer mammograms in other arenas that don’t also offer abortion? Why not give portions to hospitals and regular clinics to just offer that sort of care?

can you name a few locations where a planned parenthood facility is the only women’s medical facility within a 20 mile radius. i find it hard to believe this claim.

I believe that only certain Komen state organizations have contributed to Planned Parenthood. I don’t believe the national organization has done that yet, although they refuse to rule out the possibility. You should check this out. I wouldn’t contribute a dime to Komen and send them a letter making clear why. It doesn’t matter if your fear some women will not hae access to mammograms. Contributing money will contribute to the death of innocent babies. So long as we acquiesce in these matters, our voice will be ignored.

This is a confusing issue. Last year the diocese immediately North of here banned the walk for Catholics.

This diocese did not. They said it was Ok for Catholics to participate.

Even if the $500,000 per year that the Komen Foundation donates
to PP were to be used for exams only, it still frees up money in the PP budget to use for lies and murder.
A worse atrocity is the $380 Million per year of OUR tax money that that goes to help fund PP :bigyikes: :tsktsk:

If I remember the Diocese checked into it and that chapter did not directly donate to planned deathhood.

But they have to give to the Foundation.

Someone else verify this?

The problem is that even though Komen says the money donated is going to mammograms, Komen has no control as to how PP spends the money given them by Komen.

Studies show that in PP clinics where Komen has given grants, the actual number of mammograms given has gone down, and abortions have gone up.

Here’s a recent discussion on this issue that may be of interest:

Kind of ironic that there’s an established link between abortion and breast cancer and yet Unplanned Parenthood are getting money from these people…

I guess they’re not really serious about breast cancer.

This is like a lung cancer charity spending money on distributing cigarettes.
