Ok so heres the run-down of my story:
Last year I “came out” to the world as a gay man. I attempted to keep faith and sexuality bound together. That didnt happen so I dropped faith completely. Then, over the summer I was sent on a youth trip to a Stuebenville Youth Conference and had a moving and powerful experience with the Eucharist. I was faithfully practicing for about a month and fell back into the “gay” image. As it progress, stated bluntly, I became a whore. I slept with two guys. Then a non-denominational friend of mine invited me to her Church and a retreat. So I went. I found God and repented. I was Christian for about, ooohhhh lets say, two weeks. Then I was gay again. This time slept with four guys. Now I’m here. Broken-hearted, rejected by my home parish church, ridiculed at my school, and overall ashamed of my existance. What now? I know everyone on here is going to say “Go to confession!” But after everything I have done that doesnt seem like enough! I miss the Church alot. It gave me comfort. But I felt the need for love so I followed my desires and labled myself gay. Now I’m lost, hurt, confused, and angry. Help?
Brother.
You are a chosen one.
Do not profane yourself by speaking of yourself like dirt.
Jesus died for you, and He created you with the knowledge of the trials and hurts you would cause yourself, and how you would triumph with Him.
Your sins do not define you. You are not the sum of your sins, you are the sum of the Fathers Love for you. Understand?
He is always with you. He doesn’t want you to hurt yourself. He has nothing to do with the causes of your suffering. He is your unconditional father. He wants you. He sees you.
We are all in the same boat… all of us have sinned and lost the glory of God and each day we walk our own ways, we are the scattered sheep who run from the Green Tree, the Shepherd crucified.
But the good news is
He is our justification. “God proves His Love for us therein that He died for us while we were still sinners”. You don’t earn nothing, okay? He is our justification.
If you have sinned, you fit perfectly into our church. The one who says he has no sin is a liar, says the apostle John. The thing that defines a Christian is not that we dont fall, but how we get up after that and keep fighting the good fight. The lie of the devil goes like this: You failed… you don’t belong in the Church. Wrong. Because you fail you belong in the church. You go to the hospital when you need medicine. We all suffer the sickness of sin, thats why we need the grace from the sacraments to strengthen us and make us strong.
Find a really good priest, confess to him, talk to him on a regular basis, and get your hands on this book:
“Shame and Attachment Loss” by Joseph J. Nicolosi Ph.D.
Hugs and kisses to you
