Confused; why "Only begotten Son"?

Hi!

I was just wondering, why does Scripture state that Jesus is the Only Begotten SON of God rather than “child” of God? Does that mean God might beget a daughter?

I’m guessing no but not sure…

Dear friend,

There’s really nothing confusing about it at all! Since Jesus is a male, He is called God’s Son. Son describes who He is better than the more general, child. Besides, God is the ultimate author of Scripture and He used Son. Case closed!
