Hi

From afternoon i am suffering with somekind of disturbance in my mind. I donot know how to express my emotions here. I am unmarried one, who loves someone and praying for the marriage from past 1 year. But all of sudden today i feel as if God wants me to be single and get converted as a nun. But I want to settle with my loved one. I never had this feeling till now. I donot know why this kind of feeling comes into my mind. As many of you know Iam a non Christain. Everytime i prayed Jesus, always he gave me a sign that i will get married with him. I donot know why iam having this kind of things going on in my mind. I am very upset. What is God intending to tell me. I want to settle with my loved one  . Does anyone experienced this kind of feeling anytime. I know being as a nun is more into God’s love, but i always dreamt of my loved one as my spouse and i always thought him as my husband. I love him soo much not more than Jesus anyway.

Please let me know.

Thanks in advance
Anu

find some Catholic sisters or nuns who live and work in your area and ask to visit with them to learn about their lives and work and vocation. Of course, it is required for Catholic religious orders that you be a Catholic to join. Your nearest Catholic Church can tell you how to become Catholic. Jesus is calling you, but unless you learn more about Him, you won’t know how to answer Him.

Does it mean He wants me to become Nun. But really speaking i donot have interest to become Nun, but rather wants to get married with my loved one. Or as i heard from many that Baptism is kind of getting married. Is God intending me to get converted. Very confused

you won’t know that until you go through a process called “discernment”. that is a time of prayer, reading and hearing God’s Word in the bible, listening to God, and most of all, learning obedience and humility, with the help of a spiritual director. If you contact the nearest Catholic priest as I suggest and tell him of your situation he will guide you. If you contact sisters near you, they will help you discern if you have a vocation. Nobody here can tell you what Jesus is saying to you.

Before you think about life as a nun, I suggest that you first talk to a Catholic priest. Find out about the Church, and all the Sacraments. And take steps, toward becoming a Catholic, first. It could well be that Our dear Lord is leading you to a consecrated life with Him. But, you must take one step at a time, in the proper order.

When a man or a woman feels called to religious life… they are required to spend several years within the chosen Order… discerning whether or not the “Call” (the way of life) is for them. Above all, right now it is important for you to spend a lot of time in prayer. If you haven’t done this already, I would suggest that you learn to pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. You can also spend time, sitting before the Blessed Sacrament… in any Catholic Church. God bless you, on your journey. I’ll keep you in my prayers. 🙂

I daily pray Way of Cross, Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet and read Bible. I was planning to get baptism, but my parents didnot agree. As I said earlier, I love someone, and he is the one through which I came to know about Jesus. And he always guided me to Jesus. I love him soo much, and i have the characters of charity everything. I heard Baptism is a kind of marriage. But really not interested to become Nun. I feel Jesus is calling me to get Baptism.

The Sacrament of Baptism is where we become Children of God. The Original Sin, we are all born with… is completely washed away at Baptism. You say that your parents don’t agree? I’m assuming then, that your parents are not Christian? Please pray for them. If you are of legal age, you do not have to ask permission of your parents… to become baptized.

It sounds like you are also discerning the Vocation of Marriage. Is your loved one a Catholic? If not, perhaps… the two of you, together… can speak to a priest. Maybe Jesus is calling both of you to the Catholic Church… and then, to a Vocation of Marriage and Family.

My parents are non chirstains and my loved one is a Christain. His parents have not agreed for the marriage, but I was praying from past 1 year and I always seen Jesus making me closer to my loved one in all my depressions. Jesus always gave me a positive sign that i will get married with him. But today i had this kind of feeling. Sorry i could not understand some terms “It sounds like you are also discerning the Vocation of Marriage” what does this mean, i mean Vocation of Marriage?

In the Catholic Church… Marriage is a “vocation” (a way of life), like a call to the Religious life. When two Catholics are married, they receive the “vocation” as a Sacrament. The Sacrament is called Matrimony.

I’m afraid that I am also a bit confused… with one of your statements. When you say… “Jesus always gave me a positive sign that I will get married with him”… are you referring to your loved one? If your answer is “yes”… then, it sounds more like you are being called to the “vocation” (way of life) of marriage.

God bless you, as you discern God’s Will for your life. I’m glad to know that you pray the Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Stations. You might also try sitting in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament, in the nearest Catholic Church.

Iam soo sorry for the confusion I meant “Jesus always gave me a positive sign that I will get married with my loved one”. When ever i am depressed whether i will get married with my loved one or not and when i pray, immediately the next moment i always observed that Jesus gives me hope by making my loved one to call me and console me. Thank you for explaining me the things. This forum really helps me a lot to understand things. Thank you again.

You are more than welcome, dear. I’m glad if I was able to help in some way. God bless.
🙂

Iam at peace now, i will continue to pray for my marriage with my loved one. Thank you again.

Dear Anu -
Baptism is not compared to marriage. It is, you might say, the true birth of our soul, which is stained / dead by original sin until we are baptized.

However, Nuns are often called “brides of Christ”. It is an expression meaning you dedicate your life to Him. You must realize what you would be doing - and giving up. When a woman marries, she gives up her name, the family she has been born into and becomes one with her husband, having a family together, etc., but together, while you worship Our Lord together, you are still part of the world. As a nun, you renounce worldly things and you become a bride of Christ in daily prayer. It is something that takes time and consideration before deciding.

You seem to already have a sincere love for the man you mention - but perhaps a calling to be “converted”. Are you telling us you’re not already of the Catholic Faith? If not, perhaps what you’re feeling is a calling to convert to Catholicism - not necessarily becoming a nun.

Thank you for the response Conservative.

I came to know about Jesus through my loved one 1.5 years back. And i started beleiving in Jesus from 1 year. I saw lot of miracles in this 1 year span from Jesus. So i can say iam believer of Jesus but not baptised.

Anu, consider yourself one of the lucky - blessed people - who not only have seen miracles but recognized them as coming from Jesus. Perhaps, He is calling you to a deeper worship, within the Catholic Faith, together with the man you have mentioned. May God and Our Lady bless and guide you.
