Sorry, my friends,
if this is a basic question, but Iām not sure where else to look. Whenever someone asks a stupid question, theyāre always told to ājust search on the internet!ā When it comes to Catholicism, though, my beloved brethren on C.A.F. are my Google.
I am the proud owner of a free, used 1962 Missal. I respect and love the 1970 Missal. Both were given to us by the Holy Church of Christ, acknowledging the Father throughout the world. They are both to be used by those who, respectively, find one or the other Form most worshipful of Christ in their hearts. Iām a little confused regarding feast days, though. Has the Holy Catholic Church retained feast days for the 1962 Form if youāre saying the 1962 Form, and the feast days for the 1970 Form if youāre saying the 1970 Form? Does the Saintās day āchangeā depending on the Form you āuseā/attend? How could this be?
As an example: if you attend an Ordinary Form Mass on Jan. 28, youāre giving respect to and asking for the prayers of my beloved future patron and present brother, Saint Thomas Aquinas. If you attend an Extraordinary Form Mass on Jan. 28, itās not Aquinas; instead, Aquinas is on March 7. Has the Church changed feast days for all Forms of the Mass to one Universal set of feast days, or what? Why does my 2004 Angelus Press Missal state that Aquinasā feast day is March 7 if itās actually Jan. 28?
