My catechism was limited so it was hard for me. I just wanted to encourage Ace to find out the details and truth. I remember hearing from the media about what Catholics believe about abortion, rights of women, and contraceptives and I got so confused. I did not question immediately secular media and that was bad. That’s like saying “I really want to be a lawyer, so I’m going to drop out of law school and watch reruns of The Practice, since the law is the law, regardless.” You must have been poorly catechized to make that sort of statement, and I truly am sorry for that. Just keep in mind that Catholicism apparently isn’t what you think it is, and when you mature, keep an open mind. There were many of us that had poor catechism classes, lapsed because of ignorance, and came back after some research and maturity.
In the end, the truth is that women and men both are fully respected and given dignity in the Church. There is none of this lesser worth thing that people claim Catholics believe or that women are force to live with strict and unfair rules. Once I learned the truth, through hearing what the pope has to say, what is in the Catechism of the Catholic Church I was so relieved. I mean, this not only make sense it is the love and respect I always thought everyone should have. The secular media has it so wrong it makes me sad that so many people are being deceived. I’m not saying I’ll look for the local news at the parish bulletin. In the same tone, I would not be looking for Catholic teaching from non authoritative Catholic sources, such as the Catechism of the Catholic Church and apologist who studied and train to spread the Catholic faith.
Best wishes to you Ace.
