Congrats to the New Catholics

I just wanted to say congratulations to all the new Catholics.

What was the experience like for you?

Attending the Easter Vigil this evening brought back a lot of memories from when I was confirmed last year. The past year has been an extremely trying time for me, but being there tonight and seeing so many new members being confirmed and sharing in the same emotions really helped me piece together why I ever decided to become Catholic.

I have finally crossed the Tiber! Easter Vigil was the most moving experience I have ever had in my life. I feel so grateful, so humble, so jubilant! When Father placed his hands over me during Confirmation, it was electric. My first communion, knowing Christ is present in the Eucharist, my Lord my God, what a feast! I feel so blessed!

I am so overwhelmed the proper words elude me, but I will say that if feels so good to be home!

p.s. I have also been crying so much this week. Holy Week in the Catholic Church is so different than what I experienced in other traditions. I broke down and sobbed during the veneration of the Cross on Good Friday. I cried tears of joy tonight at Easter Vigil. I am tired, but the tired you feel after good work.

Praise the Lord!! That is so exciting. Welcome home! You just gained several billion brothers and sisters! I joined the Church last year and my sponsor gave me this verse. I don’t have it memorized but this is the address. Ephesians(sp?) 2:19-22. I was really a good verse.

It was a long but wonderful evening!

My husband and I received 4 sacrements tonight: baptism, confirmation, first communion, and marriage (we renewed our vows).

Two of our RCIA leaders came back from the Holy Land last month, and gave us all Rosaries from there. That solves my Rosary predicament! Now to get them blessed!

I looked up that passage - biblegateway.com says:
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
