Congratulations to all Catechumens and Candidates!

It was a wonderful night. We were four. Three Candidates and one Catechumen (me). After the renunciation of sin and profession of faith at the sanctuary Father baptized me at the fountain in the center of the church then we proceeded back to the sanctuary where all of us received the Confirmation with the chrism oil the smell of which unfortunately is gone now. I even had agnostic friends attend who were moved by the whole thing.

It feels great to be home!

I smelled bergamot and jasmine, maybe a little vanilla, and a few other things (I’m no perfumer, lol). I hated having to wash it off yesterday morning. I have a feeling it’s going to turn into one of those things where you catch a whiff and your mind immediately flashes back to whatever you associate that smell with - even when you can’t nail it down or even remember why you associate the smell with that moment.

I wore a sixty-five year old Spiedel ID bracelet my dad gave my mom before they got married. There’s a tiny picture of my dad in it that’s been in there since shortly after my mom received it - she cut it out with her own scissors and put it in there all those years ago. I held it in my hand all during the baptisms of the catechumens (a few who were baptized with their kiddos who were also confirmed at the time - so sweet), during my own pronouncement of faith, confirmation, and first communion.

I wish my dad had been the person standing behind me.

And now if you’ll excuse me it appears someone is cutting onions in my immediate vicinity.
 
The second biggest privilege of my whole confirmation was being able to watch the faces of every single catechumen as they were baptized.

I though the house was built but was being decorated and he will come back when that is complete.

You must mean my comments about people who claim end times is imminent?

God told us to be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth. Well, it aint full yet so he’s waiting for us to finish our end of the bargain.

If/when I get confirmed, will likely be in a private proceeding, unless I wait for the next year’s cycle… assuming that’s long enough. Sometimes, life’s timing sucks. Will make for an interesting last few RCIA classes.

Glad that you had a relationship with your father. Mine divorced my mother when I was ~2-3 months old. Most of my contacts with him were basically that I wasn’t going to the right schools, or doing the right this or that. When I became a prosecutor, I was in the wrong field, was supposedly anti-firearm, etc.; basically unworthy of whatever.

At the time of his death, I had surpassed him in both income, employment stability, and investments. I kind of got the last laugh when he died before he could squander the inheritance he got from an uncle of his, and he died intestate. The police/landlord/etc. stole a bunch of his firearms, etc., but they couldn’t steal the investments.

I don’t wish that he was by my side for events, he never wanted to be a part of things during life, so there was no attachment. Once I was done with the estate, and no longer needed his driver’s license, etc., I fed them through the shredder at the office. His ashes have been dispersed into the Louisiana bayous. His soul, who knows… perhaps it is being slowly rotisseried. Just about the only thing I have left with his name on it is a heavy-duty rifle case that’s simply to hard to replace to give up, and his FFL record, which is something that technically gets kept for a long, long time.
 
This is my first post, I was received into the Catholic Church Saturday, and had my first confession and took part in the Eucharist, I have been attending the church for about 6 months so it’s very new
I am so happy 😀

I feel the same way. I have been a full fledged Catholic for 4 days and I am still on cloud nine. Dose this feeling ever go away? I really hope not 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’M HOME NOW AND FOREVER 😁😁😁😁

The Church is like family. Once you’re part of the family you can’t get rid of us 😀.

I am not ashamed to say that Im Catholic now woot woot it’s been four days since the vigil and YEP you guessed it Still On Cloud Nine been dancing the happy dance ever since and I don’t want to stop 😂😂😁😁😂😂😂😃😃
 
I’m still in awe of how welcoming and loving the parish was on Saturday, I know I have been there for nearly 2 years but still to see everyone that happy for me was amazing.

Also yes very much loving that I can receive the Eucharist now!
