Now, what if the stress of the contracepting spouse is a valid turn off. Can this be a cause of temptation for the other spouse to commit sexual infidelity?
I can see how it could feel like a turn off. I can also see how it could evoke anger and anger let run far can bring any sort of temptation to us in our weakness. But I wouldn’t make much over any potential additional temptation. You don’t control their behavior and God will give you the means to resist regardless.

When the Church refers to conjugal relations, she is referring to Chaste Sex (aka unsinful sex).
Can you provide documentation for this?
No, I can’t. However, the definition of conjugal relations requires a married couple.

http://www.yourdictionary.com/conjugal

So it’s reasonable to beleive the Church would expect all conjugal acts to be chaste, since chaste sexual relations can only take place between married couples.

The below article doesn’t directly address this, but it does address confusion between the terms “conjugal relations” and “sexual relations.” So my understanding is that “sexual relations” is any and all sexual acts between two persons, while “conjugal relations” are the chaste sexual acts between man & wife.

these two catholics really need to talk to their priest about their specific circumstances.

we cannot judge or make comment on their situation without knowing fully whats going on, or what steps they are taking or if they are both practicing catholics, or married in the church, etc etc the list goes on.

we should not be discussing the sexual relations of married couples without their consent and even then, its really not our business

we could make this a hypothetical , but with specific conditions.

Just because I’m focussing on one thing doesn’t mean that’s all I’m focussing on.

This is not the place to discuss many details.

I agree it’s two people in a relationship, and trust levels need to heal.

What I know, in the end, is that divorce cannot happen, and if separation occurs, both spouses must live chaste. That is not happening by the one who who demanded contraception.

This article is an attempt to clarify whether the term refers to married couples or any relationship.

I am asking if the phrase, specifically used in the canon section I posted in post #5, is referring to sexual relations that are open to life.

The article you linked seems to support that, in places. And the fact is, I don’t know how the Church would be guiding a married couple to engage in sexual relations with contraception.

You don’t have to try and figure out the whole situation of the couple in question. That is impossible to do here.

what do you hope to do with these two ? Can you change or help them in any way? Apart from praying?

It is me…

Try to live in continence. Try to persevere with Jesus no matter what that takes.

Can you seek advice from your Priest and follow this advice. since your wife won’t go in.
what is her stance on NFP
And pray for your wife’s conversion 🙂 Its about all we can do.

Thanks. I’m concerned about two Catholics, and one only engaging in sex with contraception, while the other is expressing a desire to be open to life.
This is not really conjugal love, by definition. It merely resembles it.
The Church’s moral teaching is always in reference to the true good and the complete good, and so seen in that reference maybe the meaning of these teachings and rulings becomes clearer.

There is a theme here at CAF, and it is partly good and partly… insufficient.

It’s “talk to your priest”

I have. Several priests. It only goes so far. And when my pastor is unwilling to invite my spouse to speak with him or both of us, it is a dead end.

I know what is right and wrong. I am repenting of my sins. I am dedicated to upholding Church Teaching and being strengthened through prayer, faith, hope, and love.

Yep
That’s marriage for ya. You can’t compel someone who rejects the Holy Spirit.

We all accept His Spirit to certain degrees. Which means we all reject His Spirit to degrees. Some reject to the point of spiritual death, and some accept to the point of suffering with Jesus.

Because…
The Catholic Catechism

1652 “By its very nature the institution of marriage and married love is ordered to the procreation and education of the offspring and it is in them that it finds its crowning glory.”

Children are the supreme gift of marriage and contribute greatly to the good of the parents themselves. God himself said: “It is not good that man should be alone,” and “from the beginning [he] made them male and female”; wishing to associate them in a special way in his own creative work, God blessed man and woman with the words: “Be fruitful and multiply.” Hence, true married love and the whole structure of family life which results from it, without diminishment of the other ends of marriage, are directed to disposing the spouses to cooperate valiantly with the love of the Creator and Savior, who through them will increase and enrich his family from day to day.

The couple is me and my wife.

Sorry, the phrase is “conjugal life”

Here is the canon use:
Can. 1151 Spouses have the obligation and the right to maintain their common conjugal life, unless a lawful reason excuses them.

I don’t think I care for your tone…

Open to life means sex without birth control

Why wouldnt i take it personally?

Why do you care who it Is?
I am free to ask this about our faith.

The whole “this is none of your business” is a copout excuse.
