I am not the best at tooting my own horn, as humility was a virtue when I was growing up…during the Cretaceous period. But part of my discernment is airing out my thoughts through my blog. I am hoping that I cover topics that we all mull over on our journey. I am a firm believer in second vocations for women and that being free after 45 to start a new direction in our spiritual life is not only natural, but we have a wealth of wisdom to bring to the table.
I advocate consecrating single motherhood and being a grandmother. I do not condone women having sex outside of marriage, but many women find themselves in that situation, even when they make the steps outlined in Church teaching. I adopted a special needs daughter as a single woman. I witness to all that there is a way to have children, with Jesus as their father and male role model (quite successfully, I might TOOT!) and that since society has changed and there is not a system of orphanages, this is an alternative. The work we do with Christ as our spouse is too important to be ignored.
