Consecrating another person to the Sacred Heart/Immucalate heart of Mary

I have done a consecration to Mary. I actually had a desire to do so and then during a very important event, the bishop announced that he consecrated all people who where present, to the immaculate Heart of Mary. I accepted this invitation gladly and renew it every day.

I was wondering, is it also possible for us to, privately, to consecrate a loved one to the Immaculate heart of Mary or Sacred Heart of Jesus?
What about consecrating other people to a certain saint?
Or entrusting them for example to padre pio as a spiritual child?
How do we know if God accepted this consecration?

I think it boils down to whether or not you have natural law authority over your loved one.

For example, consecrating one’s baby to Our Lady would be different from attempting to consecrate one’s uncle.

But I’m not really sure. This might be a good question to ask a traditional Priest.

Of course you can.

No, you can’t do the Total Consecration to Mary where they promise to do everything for Mary…not because you would be wrong, but because it is not possible. You don’t have the power over their free will like that.

It would be like if I promised to my brother that my friend would do him a favor. Huh? Yeah it makes no sense.

But saying “I surrender this person to the heart of Mary” for the sake of their soul is a beautiful thing to do, obviously. You are just asking Mary to protect and help them.
