Long ago when I was a religious I had a naive sense that just being a religious somehow consecrated my life. But I do miss that feeling of consecration. But consecration is really what Christian life is all about. What does it mean practically? I have been thinking about it and trying to come up with a few short concrete commitments.

- See others as Christ
- Exercise awareness of God’s presence
- Exercise awareness of a God working through me
- Surrender the outcome of my work
- Maintain equanimity, happy acceptance, peace
- Be willing to see everything as part of a greater plan
- Be patient
- Be kind
- Be generous
- Be available
- Sit in silence
