A Protestant friend of mine asked me about the Catholic basis for consecrating oneself to Mary or Joseph. I’m pretty down with addressing prayer to saints, but I’m not sure how to address consecration to a saint. Please help me explain this.

Slightly different subject, am I correct in saying re:Jesus as the sole intercessor between us & God the Father that Jesus’ intercession was his sacrifice on the cross? That Jesus was the only one who could free us from sin by dying on the cross and THAT is what Jesus meant when he said he was the only intercessor?

Consecration is one of many exterior expressions of true devotions to a saint signifying both a resolve to live as his/her own and an act of petition for his/her care in order to live the Gospel more fully. Nothing more, nothing less.
