Consecration to Jesus, through Mary - question/concern

I’ve felt called to consecration myself to Mary for some time now. But I’m a little freaked out when I read this about the consecration: A person who makes this consecration, may fast and pray for any intention he would like; but he has absolutely no assurance that merits of his fasts and prayers will be applied for that intention. In fact, he can almost be certain that Our Lady may often see a greater spiritual need elsewhere; she may freely use these merits for anything that she desires. He can not, in fact, even offer up prayers and fasts for himself. He entirely abrogates possession of himself; he completely gives away ownership of his own body and his soul, all of his material possessions, and even the right to to dispose of the values of any of his good actions. I read a comment that this could result in a longer stay in Purgatory. As I was a really terrible sinner before converting to Catholicism, and still a pretty bad sinner now, I know I need a lot of spiritual merits to help me in the next life. In addition to this, my Dad has passed on, and I often try to gain indulgences for him. When one is consecrated to Mary, I wouldn’t be able to know if I’m helping my dad (I guess we never really know anyways, but you get the idea). I also wonder if prevents me from reaching out to the Saints. For example, if I lost something and I would usually reach out to St. Anthony, is this possible anymore? Or can I only reach out to Mary? I’m confident I can still pray directly to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but I wonder about my devotions to other Saints.

Just put your trust in Mary that She will help you once you are in Purgatory. She might even use the merits of another Consecrated Soul on Earth to alleviate your sufferings on Purgatory.

Have confidence in Mama Mary that She is also helping your Dad.
Yes, of course it is possible to seek the intercession of other saints too
 
We consecrate ourselves out of love, not because we’re contracting some kind of trade off or deal.
Be at peace.
Our Lady brings your petitions to the Lord, and He supplies all of our needs. :gopray:

I think you were reading 33 days to morning glory, in which the next day, Fr Michael explains that Mary is never outdone in generosity, and will leave you with more than you gave her.
 
Thank you all for your responses. I’m feeling more confident now in going forth with my consecration.
