Consecration to Jesus through Mary questions

I understand that Consecrating ourselves to Jesus through Mary is giving her all our prayers, value of our works, ect. for her to use and she sees fit.

I just have a couple of questions:
  1. Can I still offer my prayers for my family members, friends and souls in Purgatory? This is a very important part of my prayer life as I do it every day, especially for the Holy Souls. If so, how do I go about doing this when I have already offered everything to Mary?
  2. What about the Masses I have offered for my deceased father? Do I still continue to do this since I am offering the Mass specifically for him? Isn’t that contradictory to the Consecration to Jesus through Mary?

Do you think that Mary is any less generous than you? When you consecrate yourself she will shower her graces on you AND those you pray for – you can still pray for them, and ask Mary to intercede for them, and you can still have masses said for your Father.

I think I am just having trouble understanding. I am going through the Consecration right now and just learning more about it so forgive me if I state something that is not accurate.

Please tell me if I am wrong. So I can still pray for others the same way I have in the past BUT I leave it up to Mary to to purify my prayers and works (through her Immaculate Heart) before presenting them to God. I consent (might not be the best word) that she uses everything I offer in any way she wants.

Do I say something to God or Mary at the end of my prayers stating this or is it not needed since they already know I have consecrated myself to Jesus through Mary?

I know this is only a technicality but I am trying to fully understand.

The more we do everything for Jesus through Mary, all the more you will be blessed in the prayers you always usually do for others. The more unselfish we become, the more generous are the graces and blessings we receive.

Of course, continue to offer Masses for others.

May our Lord Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother continue to bless you on your spiritual journey!
 
You will get many opinions from many different people regarding Marian consecration.
Choose a path. Keep it simple. Take it very seriously. The Holy Spirit will guide you in and through Mary.
Our consecration journey becomes clearer and easier if we never give up our commitment.
Our love for her grows and grows and grows to depths and heights never imagined.

Keep in mind…
All graces come to us starting from the Father, through the Son, through the Holy Spirit, through the Immaculata to us.
All response to God’s grace goes back the way it came, through Mary, through the Holy Spirit, through Jesus, and back to the glory of the Father.

So if you desire your prayer to be perfect, worthy, and seriously considered, always, always make Mary apart of it. This is cooperating with the will of God.
I sympathize with you that this big step you are taking can be confusing. Never be discouraged or afraid to reach out. I commend you for desiring to be as obedient as humanly possible.
Be patient and open your heart and mind to truly absorb Our Lady’s actions in you.
Place all your trust in her love and God’s providence.
Invoking her can be very simple and diverse.
Never forget to offer up your actions to Mary especially ‘before’ prayer.
Perhaps start your prayers with a Marian prayer then pray directly heart to heart with God.
Or it can be as simple as a brief aspiration, “Maria!”…
Or one of her many titles…
Or even a kiss of her image or statue…
I like the Miraculous Medal prayer.
Depending on your disposition at the time or the significance of the circumstances, she will grant you her wisdom.
I always offer my Holy Communion to her so Jesus in received with the most loving joyful welcome.
We should offer her our visits to the Blessed Sacrament.
Upon waking in the morning invoke her to start your prayers to God.
Before you go to bed in the evening just the same.

It is a grace to get closer to Jesus.
And all graces pass through the Immaculata.

Only she without stain knows no fall.
To imitate her, therefore, to draw near to her, to offer oneself up as property to her, to become her: that is the pinnacle of human perfection.

St Louis De Montfort talks about this in his book True Devotion. You can trust God to take care of those dear to you as you give yourself to Our Lady, and if you have a specific intention, you can ask her to apply the prayers for that, and just leave it to her 🙂 Our Lady always does God’s Will perfectly and knows our situation.

I wouldn’t be too worried about adding it to every single prayer forever. I would maybe do it for a bit of time in the beginning to help you remember this intention, and once its habitual, I think you can just come with that intention. Even if you forget, the Consecration does cover everything, it just helps to live it out well to remember 🙂 the living it out is the difficult part, and very important, but the Consecration itself does affect all your future actions and prayers. That’s just my understanding… Hope that helps!
 
Hi Brad. I completely understand what you are going through. I started watching a 3 part series called “Catechism on True Devotion Consecration & Baptism”. You can google it and look under videos if you wish. it appears to answer many questions you have.
