Since my guardian angel has been attached to me, I’m wondering how or why one would consecrate themselves to angel that is bound to you.
I’m love my guardian angel & I think they realize it.

I don’t know for sure, but I’m thinking maybe it’s the same basic principle where Pope Leo XIII consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (even though that’s a way bigger deal), even though mankind already belonged to Him, as an act of our own acknowledgment and goodwill.

In any case, paragraph 7 of Annum Sacrum (Leo XIII’s consecration) is really beautiful:

I would be interested in hearing more about it too.

I have done the consecration via Opus Angelorum years ago. I underwent a year long formation. A booklet is given to candidates which has the short daily readings and meditation. I’m very grateful for being part of this apostolate. They were the ones who sent me the invitation letter, as I adopted a priest through their organization. I discerned and thought about it before pushing through with the candidacy.

Do you have ongoing prayer requirements or an annual renewal of consecration?

If you are already consecrated to Mary can you do an angel consecration too?

  1. In terms of prayers, it is encouraged to pray daily the Consecration to the Guardian Angel, and the Angelus. There is also the Passio Domini, spending time in Adoration on Thursdays, and to pray for the sanctification of priests. These are all recommendations, which means that these do not bind under the pain the sin. There is no annual renewal, at least I wasn’t informed of any.
  2. Yes, you can do the consecration to the g.a. even after the total consecration to Mary. I myself did the Total Consecration to Mary years ago prior to the g.a. consecration.
The ORC priest who invited me to be connected to Opus Angelorum told me that Mother Angelica and her nuns did the guardian angel consecration. They have a devotion, as seem on the St. Michael Chaplet on EWTN.
