I see no reason why you cannot make the act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary after communion. We can present any number of prayers to Jesus after communion for it is then that we are in physical communion with Jesus. We make the act of consecration to Mary for this end: that we may more perfectly consecrate ourselves to Jesus. Jesus is the end of consecration to Mary.
