I have noticed in the past months, that at the Consecration during mass, the priest are now are singing the words of the Last Supper, that were once read with reverence.
I feel that singing the words spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ, takes away from the solemnity. I wonder if this is a new rule, as in several churches it is being done like this.

Singing was normal when I was a child. Then at one point it went away and came back depending on the priest. The same with the bells being rung at certain intervals during the mass, and also the same with incense being used.

Singing is actually 10x or even 100x the solemnity

“Those who sing pray twice.” - St. Augustine of Hippo. I should think even more so the Words of Consecration being sung.

I perfer that the Mass be chanted, and thanks be to God I get to hear it chanted quite a bit. What a blessing it is.

The Mass is supposed to be sung. In our diocese they are using the occasion of the revision of the texts to encourage priests to sing the Mass.

No, this is very, very old, and many are returning to it. Much more reverent.
