We are looking into a job South of Cedar Rapids along I-80 and are looking to find a good conservative parish. We are moving from Nebraska. Does anyone know of one and what town it is in? What is the word on the new Bishop? Good?

I know there is at least one, but, for the life of me, I can’t remember it’s name.

I was on a business trip to Moline, IL and one of the days was a Holy Day of Obligation.

I found a parish that had a evening Mass that I could attend and I was pretty impressed with the Liturgy and the Homily. Architecture was nice too, it was an older church.

Sorry I can’t be of more help. It was one Mass a few years ago 😦

St. Wenceslaus Parish in Iowa city. It is in the Davenport Diocese but about 25 minutes south of C.R. Cedar Rapids is in the Dubuque Archdiocese. I grew up in that ArchD and simply put…it is one big Call to Action Conference. Sure you have your orthodox minded priests but they are hard to find in the Dubuque Arch.

Know of any solid parishes and catholic schools east of Des Moines?. Does Iowa City of a good catholic school?

East of Des Moines and Iowa city covers over 100 miles. I live east of DM but a still 75 miles from I.C. Iowa city Regina Is the only catholic school in I.C. This diocese and I.C. for that matter are far from orthodox. I.C. is a liberal university town.

We did get a new bishop from cleavland last week No idea where he stands.

Geez, decn2b…I think that statement about the ArchDBQ is a little off, and off-putting as well. I grew up in Cedar Rapids, so if you PM-me I’ll try to offer my impressions. Although I’ve been away at college for awhile, and so leadership of parishes has changed a bit, usually it takes a long time for a major shift in a parish to take place. I will say that if you are looking for a TLM or something, you won’t find it in CR - or pretty much anywhere along the I-380 corridor.
