I watched some of the coverage of the March of Life on EWTN, as well as another program a few weeks ago following a group of teens my age holding protests outside of abortion clinics in various large cities in the US. I’m not sure what the name of the organization was.

But anyway, I was really inspired by it, and I’m considering holding a small protest with some friends, collegemates, and co-workers outside of a fairly new planned parenthood “clinic” in my city. We’re a city of about 80,000 in Southern Utah.

I’m thinking of mentioning it in our campus Newman Center club.

I was wondering if anyone who has done something like this before could give some useful tips.

Is this a good idea? Am I going off on a limb here? Should I even bother?

While I’m not an American, or in America, I do have Pro-Life chums on the net who do what you’re thinking about doing.

From what they’ve told me they generally just show up. Stay on the sidewalk or other public property - if you go the clinic grounds you can be arrested for tresspass and that’s pretty much the end of your protest. Others contact their local authority to check the laws around small protest. Perhaps you could hunt down some other local pro-life groups - chances are they will know the ins and outs.

Good luck with your endevours. May you save the mothers and their babies from such a hell.

Check out the pro-life forum here: (its not as active as it use to be, but it has a section on protesting and activism)

One more thing, the Pro Life office at your Diocese is a FANTASTIC resource. Give the folks there a call.

I think you should and tell us about it. I have mapped out the offices around Indianapolis and would like to do something here. All it takes is a few committed people. I don’t want to do anything illegal, but keep thinking of the movie Juno.

I took off work for the Pro-Life rally in DC. Was the best thing I have done for my spiritual growth since CHRP. Now my saying is “what is wrong with our world that I have to declare I am Pro-Life”.

Reff, God bless you for acting on this holy inspiration!
I would reccomend having a video camera with you, it tends to keep everyone honest. You should get some good literature in case you are lucky enough to get it into the hands of someone going into the clinic, and dont forget to put the number of the nearest crisis pregnancy center on it. We use signs, but dont let it stop you if you havent gotten to that point yet. Most important of all remember to take your rosary and pray it the whole time! This is spirtual warfare and you cant afford to leave your defences down. American life league has a map that gives the info for people who picket on a reagular basis throughout the country so be sure and sign up, you may get some help.
Good luck!

Honestly, it’s a good. thing to do in theory. But it’s not gonna do anything really, PP gets protesters quite often, it’s not really a big deal anymore, and it only causes mental distress for the people who work there and the people who go there. If your pro-life, I suggest donating to pro life causes instead.

You are 100% incorrect. Prayerful presence and loving outreach through sidewalk counseling at abortion clinics saves babies and mothers from abortion.

There are many documented results from maintaining a presence at abortion facilities-- their business drops of and many have been shut down entirely.

I might be somewhat incorrect, but come on, 100%? really? I’ve read studies that have said most woman are already set on their choice, this just adds to a really bad situaton.
