Please pray for me and my family. My husband and I are seriously considering becoming Catholic from our evangelical protestant background. We are experiencing a lot of stress in our family relationships as a result. I need to be freed from fear and experience the peace of knowing what God wants us to do and how/when he wants us to do it.

I am a convert. I have experienced a lot of contention in my marriage because of my conversion. I pray everyday that my wife will understand. Pray that your family will understand and support you. Here is some verses from the gospel of Matthew. God bless you.

34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.
35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man’s enemies shall be they of his own household.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.
38 And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me.

Jesus calls YOU to the "supper of the Lord"

John 6

31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.

32 Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, [It is] not Moses that has given you the bread out of heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.

A stumbling block for our Protestant bretheren is that they do not comprehend the transubstantiation of mere bread and mere wine into the literal body and blood of Jesus Christ in the mysteries of the Catholic Holy Eucharist. It is by eating HIS body and by drinking HIS blood that the Catholic comes into a more intimate and trasforming (life-giving) experience with Jesus.

Not all can comprehend the spiritual mysteries of Holy Eucharist. Not all are invited as intimately to this Supper of the Lord.

Accept your invitation! It is a great blessing! Don’t look back!

This is the stumbling block for would-be converts to the TRUTH the world over!

If you are born to Buddhists, Hindus, Islamics, Mormons, Christian Scientists (neither word accurate), Jehovah’s Witnesses, or any number of cults and religions, it is incredibly difficult to overcome family ties and choose to love THE TRUTH (JESUS) more than the demands (and pulls of heartstrings) of your natural family. Spiritually, the family (in such cases) represents enmity (opposition) to THE TRUTH (JESUS).

Jesus addresses the matter with the admonition that those who cannot overcome “are not worthy of me.” This is an adversarial answer hearkining back to the word “SWORD” in Matthew 10:34. Jesus calls upon you to CUT the spiritual fetters that bind you to to the wrongheaded values of family.
