When I 1st left I did. I haven’t attended an LDS congregation since 1994 when out of the blue someone asked to attend his baptism. I occasionally post on mormon forums

This dream you mention…how do you know the dream in not deceiving? How can you tell this dream is not from an angel that masqueraded as an angel of light (in other words…it is from an angel who fell?) <<<

The dream I was referring to was in the BOM.

I didn’t really want to start a thread on the BOM. The BOM contains teachings against priestcraft and this is defined in the BOM and it appeared to me that the LDS leadership practiced priestcraft.

“2 Nephi 26:29”: 29 He commandeth that there shall be no priestcrafts; for, behold priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion.

I got out in the 90s, served in many positions of leadership including Missionary, and have had a lot of contact since then.

The LDS leaders were involved in all kinds of bad stuff

I think it does matter if the Book of Mormon is true for the following:
Mormonism is based on the word of Joseph Smith
Joseph smith said it was a true history.
It is not a true history, so Joseph Smith lied.
If he lied about the Book of Mormon what else did he lie about.

To tell you the truth, i dont think joe smith ever thought or knew that the mormon cult would grow so big. There is nothing that he wrote about that can be verified through science or any other means. It was about making money since his other schemes didnt pan out. IMHO, he was a pimp in the 1800’s. Money, power and girls.

yeah…a real prophet woulda known how science would be able to disprove his contentions within 150 years

This letter is dated to 1990 yet Pres. Hinckley didn’t become President of the Church until 1995 (if my memory serves me correctly). Has the veracity of this letter been properly vetted?
 
Never mind. I was 5 years old at this time and Hinckley was a member of the First Presidency in 1990 (1st Counselor), so he was properly called “president” then.

I had no memory of him at this time. all I knew as a 5 year old was that Howard W. Hunter was the prophet whom we “followed” (per the Primary songs), and that Gordon B. Hinckley succeeded him afterwards (shortly after my baptism in 1994).
